Pastels on Paper
”I viewed a Degas monoprint oil on paper image at the Norton Simon Museum of Art. At first, I drew directly on the metal etching plates. I didn’t have an expensive etching press, so at home I used a brayer I realized that I could monoprint on glass by placing the glass directly over my drawing or any photo I chose and give myself more options with my drawings under the glass. By 1983 I was using plexiglass because it doesn’t break as easily. This allowed me to explore different effects, textures and colors that gave each reiteration a different look and feel, in particular, pastel work”. Source: My History with Monoprinting.
